User Research

For my user research, I conducted interviews to gain insights into the challenges users face with long-term medication. Participants shared that they often forget whether they've taken their medication. Based on this feedback, it became clear that a tool allowing users to track their medication intake and mark completed doses would significantly improve their experience and make managing medication more manageable.

Persona

Saira and Jackson struggle to manage their medications due to their busy lifestyles. They need reminders, dosage clarity, and better organization. A solution addressing these needs can help them stay on track with their health, reduce stress, and improve medication adherence.

Solutions

Based on the personas, I developed solutions to address their challenges, focusing on simplifying medication management, providing reminders, and improving adherence to make the process more manageable.

  • Medication Reminder: Push notifications or alerts to remind users when to take their medications.

  • Dosage Tracking and Notes: Log the dosage and frequency of each medication, with notes on how many pills to take and at what times.

  • Medication Calendar: A visual calendar to track when medications were taken and highlight upcoming doses.

  • Progress Tracking: Track adherence over time, showing progress and alerting when doses are missed.

Framework

Created the low-fidelity prototype to visualize solutions and conducted usability testing with target users. The feedback gathered helped refine the design and improve functionality and navigation.

Findings

I conducted two rounds of usability studies. The first study round helped me understand what users need and helped guide the wireframe and design. The second round of study helped to improve the hi-fi prototype.

  • The users want to switch between week and month for the calendar.

  • Users wish to have flexible options when creating reminders.

  • The users want to have the number of dates shown on the calendar.
